An Ancient Chinese carved marble stone sculpture, the head of Shakyamuni Buddha. Era of Northern and Southern dynasties, ca. 5th century AD. A lotus with an Amitabha Buddha meditating is presented above the forehead crown. Traces of polychrome coloring as well of a thin layer of gilt, almost completely washed out.
