The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Friedrich Ragaller Gallery, Munich. William Scott was a prominent painter from Northern Ireland, member of the Royal Academy and Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In 1953, Scott made an extended visit to North America which resulted in friendships with New York-based artists including Rothko and de Kooning. It was at this point that his art expression underwent a drastic change towards abstraction.
