An ancient Egyptian 26th dynasty hand carved limestone scarab bead, holding immense historical and religious significance. Circa 663 to 525 BC. Adorned with hieroglyphs on the bottom and on the top. Scarabs were symbolic in ancient Egyptian funerary practices, believed to guide and protect the deceased in the afterlife. These scarabs, often inscribed with prayers or spells from the Book of the Dead, were placed on the mummified bodys chest as part of the burial ritual.
